Is the electricity reliable in Corozal? Are there blackouts or brownouts in Corozal?

Very occasionally there are blackouts or brownouts in Corozal. It usually happens when there’s a bad storm, but under normal circumstances the electricity is reliable, as well as the Internet and cable and all that. Corozal has all those things. A lot of people opt for satellite but they’ve got cable and they’ve got the Internet.
My experience is that, if you had a bad storm there may be an issue, but there are no regular outages....

My experience is that, if you had a bad storm there may be an issue, but there are no regular outages. There’s nothing that you can say that, “Every 3 months, I lose power.” That doesn’t happen. It’s more of a per occurrence thing and I would say maybe a couple of times a year you might lose power for a little while.
In my own circumstance, I am totally off the grid. I have solar and a wind generator and I have rainwater catchment for my water and a back-up well just in case we don’t get enough rain. But that’s how we operate where I am because we don’t have access to the municipal utilities. We’re probably 10 miles to the south of Corozal by road. If we went to the north we’d already be in Mexico in 10 miles. Mexico is only 8 miles to the border from Corozal.

The electricity in Corozal is very reliable, but there are still blackouts and brownouts. The power companies in Corozal try to do a decent job of announcing power interruptions. These power companies have to do a lot of upgrades here in Corozal, because everything was just tied together in the past, and there were no standards or rules. They’re slowly, over time, improving their services, but they have to turn the power off in places to make it work better. Most of the things...

They’re slowly, over time, improving their services, but they have to turn the power off in places to make it work better. Most of the things the power companies in Corozal are doing are preventive or upgrading in general, so yes, the power in Corozal is very reliable. It’s very good, actually.
I don’t have a backup generator for my own house, but there are owners here who do. The power usually does not go out very long when it does. In fact, the longest we’ve ever seen power outages here in Corozal lasted for 8-10 hours, and usually they tell us ahead of time.
