How bad are the mosquitoes and other bugs and insects in Corozal?
Jennifer Bellerjeau - Cerros Beach Resort
Since Corozal is a tropical area, we have mosquitoes and that is just the way it is. Sometimes when it is raining, there tends to be more mosquitoes, but when we get to November through May, there are hardly any mosquitos because when it is cold, mosquitoes die.
Corozal also constantly has the sea breeze and that blows the mosquitoes away. You will find mosquitoes the further you go inland as the breeze gets weaker, but when you’re on the bay, there...

I am one of those guys who is blessed because mosquitoes don’t seem to like me too much. There is a period between 6 PM and 7 PM in Corozal where mosquitoes are pretty heavy depending on where you are located. If you are down by the sea, there will be fewer mosquitos because of the breeze.

In our area in Corozal, the sandflies are not really here but they are in the southern parts of Belize like Placencia, which is a big problem there. Here in Northern Belize, you will get doctor flies, which land on you and you don’t know it because you don’t feel them until they take a gouge out of you.
Most people are smart so if they go out at night, they’ll just spray themselves down. So yes, mosquitoes and other insects might be a problem here but it is not really a deterrent moving to this part of the country of Belize unless you’re in the middle of a jungle.
Generally speaking, other than between 6 PM and 7 PM, we don’t get many mosquitoes here unless when it rains and we get pooling. It is not a problem during the day. I can get out and I don’t get covered in mosquitoes. If you are down by the sea, where there is constant breeze, you won’t be bothered at all until dusk, when there would be some.
