Are there rivers, lakes and waterfalls in or around Corozal?

In Corozal, we have the bay, itself, and then there is the New River, which goes from the bay all the way to Guatemala. You can go kayaking in the river and then go to the other Mayan Ruins like Lamanai, where you can see crocodiles, birds, and monkeys on the riverbanks.

There are no lakes in Corozal. However, the bay itself gives you the atmosphere of being on a lakeside because it is enclosed and very shallow. The bay is surrounded by land in the shape of a horseshoe so there is land on both sides and makes it looks like a lake, though it is part of the ocean.
There are no waterfalls in the northern part of Belize because we are located at sea level so the area is flat. You can find waterfalls in the southern part of Belize, in the Cayo District, which has a mountain range.

There are rivers in Corozal and we are on the sea but there are no lakes here. You will find lakes as you go further inland. There are two rivers the flow straight into Corozal Bay. I love boating up the New River and there is great fishing, too, so it’s beautiful. No one ever goes there so it is untouched.
Most people here have cars instead of boats. Some people swim in the river but more people swim in the bay. You will always see kids in the...

Most people here have cars instead of boats. Some people swim in the river but more people swim in the bay. You will always see kids in the bay. We get crocodiles in the rivers since it is more of fresh water. The river in Corozal is navigable so you can take boats on it. I go fishing in the river, too.
The whole region where Corozal is located is pretty flat so there are no waterfalls around here. You can find waterfalls in the Cayo area since they are in the mountains. Cayo is about four hours away by car. We often go overnight in Cayo. There are nice eco lodges by the waterfalls where you can stay and there are all kinds of pools there, too. They have natural water pools where the waterfalls flow so it’s pretty cool. There is a lot cool stuff in Cayo.

There are no waterfalls close by in Corozal.
There are rivers in Corozal. The best navigable river would be the New River. It goes from Corozal Bay up through Orange Walk Town, which is the capital of the Orange Walk District and is a little to the south of Corozal. From Orange Walk Town, the New River goes all the way up to the Lamanai Mayan Ruins. A trip through the New River is an interesting one and you'll see a lot of wildlife.

There are also some smaller rivers and freshwater lagoons in Corozal. Progressive Lagoon is a large one where there are some housing developments. There are quite a few gringos who have homes around Progressive Lagoon. There's also Four Mile Lagoon, which is north of Corozal. We would call these lagoons a lake in the United States, but they’re not big. These lagoons are bodies of water that are typically fed by rivers or some lagoons may be parts of the river system.
