How are the roads in Ambergris Caye? Do I need a four-wheel drive in Ambergris Caye?

The roads on Ambergris Caye are pretty good. They are mostly cobblestone, but they are starting to pave them more and more. They are very decent.
On the back of the island, you will see potholes on the roads that are filled with rainwater etc., but it’s not a problem. They are roads and not paved paths. On the mainland, all the roads are paved, so you don't need a 4-wheel drive.

You don’t need a four-wheel drive in Ambergris Caye. Typically, you don’t see cars on Ambergris Caye; you see golf carts. Most of the golf carts that you will see here on Ambergris Caye are the same golf carts that you see on the golf courses in the States or Canada or anywhere in the world. Most of them are gas-powered as opposed electric.

The roads are paved cement on the main roads through town and the secondary roads are hard packed, wet narrow limestone roads. The roads here are not worthy of a four-wheel drive.
