Are there exotic birds in and around Ambergris Caye? Where can I go bird watching in and around Ambergris Caye?

There are many birds in Ambergris Caye so there is bird watching here. What most people do is rent a golf cart and go north of San Pedro (about an hour away by golf cart), take their binoculars and cameras and see what kind of birds they could see.

 

You can also go bird watching south of San Pedro here in Ambergris Caye because there are less properties and the properties there are far apart from each other.

There is a place called Caribbean Villas that has a little tower where they allow people to just go and watch birds. They just have to go to the office of the resort and request permission to use their tower to see some birds. That’s how most people do bird watching here in Ambergris Caye. It is not like a tour that is provided, but instead, people do it on their own.

There is a natural wildlife preserve in the south of Ambergris Caye and birding is very popular there. There are some tours on the island that you can take where there will be a guide who will take you around the preserve, but you could also go bird watching yourself.  If you do this, you will also find a bunch of other people just like you, doing the same thing.

I just saw how a beautiful a pelican scooped into the ocean, grabbed some fish, and flew away, which is a very unique experience.
