Here in Ambergris Caye, we have people coming into the bank barefoot! People dress very comfortably here in Ambergris Caye. I find cotton clothes to be the most comfortable to wear here.

The people working in the banks and professional institutions have uniforms. They wear closed-toe shoes and are more business-like.

The dress code here in Ambergris Caye is very casual. You can buy tourist clothes; something with the word Belize splashed across it. You can easily shop on this island. You can get sarongs, tee shirts, flip flops, hats and sunglasses. Clothes are more expensive, as this is a tourist island.

The dress code in Ambergris Caye is "beach wear!" Foreigners who come to Belize to retire and make Ambergris Caye their home, generally reflect the attire of locals in a snap. Locals here in Ambergris Caye wear tank tops and swim shorts. Because it is hot here in Ambergris Caye, that is they type of clothing that the climate calls for you to wear. When foreigners come here to retire, it only takes them a few days until you start seeing them wearing the same type of...The dress code in Ambergris Caye is "beach wear!" When foreigners come here to retire, it only takes them a few days until you start seeing them wearing the same type of clothes. If there are special events such as festivals or Independence Day, or if there are shows, or charitable events, you will see people dressed up a little bit more, but still casual, in clothing such as Hawaiian shirts and cargo shorts or pants made of light materials. Women always dress nicely here in Ambergris Caye. They wear little dresses or sun dresses with really light material. You’ll be amazed by how beautifully women dress here. Even if they are wearing casual clothes, they still look attractive. Girls like to be pretty!
During normal days, most people wear beach clothing like tank tops, t-shirts, short shorts, swimsuits and flip flops. If you are going to a restaurant, you can wear just anything. I do not know of any restaurant that has a dress code restriction, but based on the ambiance of the restaurant, people use their own discretion to dress a bit nicer.

Here in Ambergris Caye, it’s not really a big deal if you are half naked on the streets because everybody wears a swimsuit. There are also opportunities to dress up, especially during community events. Practically, when we hit summer, that’s when we have more events....

In June we celebrate Dia de San Pedro, which is a big deal. In July, we have Lobsterfest, which is when lobster season opens here. In August, we have something called Costa Maya, which is an international festival where people from other countries come. In September, we celebrate independence and everything is very Belize-centric. We have parades and that’s when people and tourists come here. People dress differently for these types of events. Women wear nice dresses, some heels, or flats. It doesn’t need to be too dressy but it’s “islandish”. It’s like a formal island attire. No jackets. You see lots of shirts with flowers printed on them. Khakis are also very common.
