How's the weather in Ambergris Caye? What's the average temperature in Ambergris Caye?

At the moment, it has been raining and it has been so for the last three weeks, but generally, it is always warm here in Ambergris Caye.

We now have tropical blood. When you first arrive at Ambergris Caye, though, you might get bitten a lot by mosquitoes, and it is so hot that you have to change clothes all the time. When it rains and when it is cold, the Belizeans walk around with wooly jumpers (a sweatshirt made of sheep's wool) and bubble hats on, so when we just got here we asked, “What are they doing?” Well, as you live and stay here for longer periods, your blood must change. I do not know how that works, but the mosquitoes do not bite me anymore. If they do come near me and take a little nibble, it is a raised bump for a couple of minutes, but it does not itch, and I do not get any marks left- over within half an hour.
My mom came to visit here in Ambergris Caye over the last few weeks and was covered in red pimples all over her and could not stop itching, but we managed to sort her out by putting coconut oil on her skin (coconut oil extractor, pictured) and we used bug spray. We bought Benadryl and some anti-histamine, too, which made a lot of her stay here pleasurable. I told my mom that she knows this happens every time she comes to visit us here in Ambergris Caye, so she has to make sure she is taking Vitamin B tablets the whole time, and when she is here, she needs to take precautions so she will not get bitten. My daughter and my mom used to have this problem, but my daughter and I now no longer get bitten and we do feel the cold a little bit more. I get quite chilly in the evenings, so the blankets and the long pants come out. I wear jeans now, which I thought I would never do in Ambergris Caye.
For the most part, we have beautiful weather in Ambergris Caye, but you can normally expect quite a lot of rainfall from November to January. Summers in Ambergris Caye are very, very hot, but that is the time when you just relax and slow down a little bit. People go and sunbathe at the end of a dock.
I work in an air-conditioned office, so the weather does not bother me until I get to the weekend. If it is raining, I love the excuse to go sitting and having a movie day, as long as it is not every weekend, because when the sun is shining, I feel like I should be out in it. I live in Ambergris Caye full time, so, as opposed to if I were visiting for a short period of time, it really does not bother me when the weather is dull because it does not happen that often.
There is a great website called the San Pedro Weather where you can see and track the weather forecast. There is a actually a webcam in real time. That is a great website to look at. I do not think there is any advertising on there.
The longer you stay here in Ambergris Caye, the less the weather bothers you.

The weather in Ambergris Caye is great. For the most part you will be at 75 to 85 degrees and the highest will be 90 degrees. The mainland of Belize, for example, in San Ignacio, tends to be hotter during the day, but it’s cooler at night. The islands tend to be pretty much the same all night long. You will get some temperatures in the high 50s and low 60s during the winter months – December, January but for the most part, it is between 75 and 85 degrees every day,...

It is comfortable even though it is humid because the island has the breeze. You always have that breeze. The water heats up and the breeze blows up that warm water into the air so that’s why the nights here are a little warmer than on the mainland, where it cools down at night.
If you have been in California or in Miami where it is hot, then Belize will be hot like that. You would find a shade tree or you will find a nice way to cool off. You can hit the beach or the pool. Generally, it is warm and it can be hot at times. Overall, it’s beautiful weather.

San Pedro (the main town on Ambergris Caye) is a very sub-tropical place, so it is always sunny and always hot, but it could rain at any minute. It is beautiful almost all day but you will never know when a cloud is going to pop up and just drop some rain. Then the cloud goes away and the sun shines beautifully again.

Belize is a sub-tropical country, which means that we only have two different types of seasons, the dry season and rainy season. But this year in particular we barely even had a dry season, as it was raining in January and February. We still had a couple of showers during the months of March and April. Rainy season is supposed to start in June so this year, at least, it looks like we’re having the same weather all year round.

The weather in Ambergris Caye is very consistent. Throughout the year it is about 80 degrees Fahrenheit (29 degrees Celsius). The fluctuations of the weather is around 20 degrees in Fahrenheit or 10 to 15 degrees in Celsius over the course of the year from the coldest to the hottest.

Ambergris Caye is surrounded by a copious amount of salt water so we do get humidity but we also get a great ocean breeze that is fairly consistent. The breeze provides natural air-conditioning to the island. Humidity here generally runs from 80% to 100% humidity. On some days we have even had as low as 50% humidity. Humidity is definitely something that exists here along with the beautiful sea breezes.
Most people who come from North America, tend to use their air-conditioning a lot when they first arrive here in Ambergris Caye. But once you have been here for approximately 6 to 8 months, the air-conditioning stops becoming much of a factor. Typically, most people use it at night to sleep and just enjoy the sea breezes during the day. I only use my air-conditioning at night to sleep. I live on the ground floor of a fixed unit condo building.
