What are the best things to do in Belize?

The best things to do in Belize typically depend on the person; there are many things to do here. The biggest things would be:
- Diving
- Snorkeling
- Kayaking
- Sailing
- Fishing
- Hiking
- Riding
- Zip lining
- Maya Caves and ruins exploration
Should I go on? Or, you can just relax under a coconut tree reading a book while sipping on a panty-ripper (a coconut liquor drink). There is never a dull day here in...

The best things to do in Belize depend on your interests. I am very sports oriented so for me, the best things to do in Belize would be to play some sports. You can do many water sports particularly here in Ambergris Caye, such as kayaking, fishing, diving, boating, stand up power boarding, sailing, jet skiing, parasailing. There are land activities, too, like zip lining, cave tubing, mountain biking, horseback riding, hiking, rappelling, and the list goes on. There is no shortage of...

There are places you can go and work out. I am also a fan of yoga. There's a wellness component here in Belize now so people are coming down here and they are eating raw organic food, practicing yoga and meditation, not involving themselves in any worldly politics that is going on at the moment, and trying to stay away from the news.
However, some people are into the cultural significance of a place. Belize is the heart of the Mayan empire. Many people are very into the archeological and cultural side of what Belize has. There are so many ruins. In fact, they said that only 15% of the ruins have even been excavated in Belize. There is still so much under the earth that has yet to be looked at.
If going on these cultural trips is not really your thing, there is a fair bit of dining opportunity here in Belize. There are lots of foodies who come here looking to experience different local spices, local methods of cooking, and obviously the regional fruits that we don't get up north, etc.
There are several people who come to Belize to transact with financial services because Belize is an offshore banking center in an English speaking country, so there are many private banks, etc.

The best things to do in Belize for sure would be snorkeling, cave tubing, visiting a Mayan temple and going on a nature trail, which is hiking, basically. Then there's also bird watching. Belize has some of the best birds in Central America.

One of the best things to do in Belize is to go swimming. We have a very nice ocean and swimming is one of the main activities that you can do here in Belize. You can also do some sports such as basketball, soccer, or volleyball. Females like playing softball. You wouldn’t see a lot of men play softball.

If you want to go and have some adventure in Belize, you can go to the Mayan ruins, go snorkeling, fishing, or go scuba diving. The scuba diving and the snorkeling in Belize is one of the best in the world because we have the second largest barrier reef in the world. We also have the world-famous Blue Hole, and we have very clear Caribbean waters.
For fishing, you bring your own things; prepare your drinks and your food for the fishing trip. You can go on your own boat with your friends and family, too. People do that very often.
Even poorer people go fishing on lagoons. Some of them do it for survival. They fish and they sell their catch at a very reasonable price. Most people who live on the islands and places like Sarteneja in the Corozal District, do have their own boats.

The top 5 most iconic things to do in Belize are scuba diving, cave tubing, visiting some of the Mayan ruins, tarpon fishing, and snorkeling.
There is a lot of islands or “cayes” (pronounced “keys”, cayes are the word Belizeans use for islands) all over Belize and the water is relatively calm and clear. The reefs of Belize are relatively healthy and you will find a lot of diving, snorkeling, and sport fishing around them. Water activities are one of the...

Tarpon fishing attracts a lot of people. You will find fish throughout the reef and around it so a lot of sport fishermen really enjoy catching tarpon.
You can access the cayes most of the time via a small plane and if not that, a small plane plus a boat. You will often find a public ferry or shuttle boats so people who live in the cayes, especially Belizeans, use various modes of transportation. Hiring a boat is very common.
Another nice thing to do in Belize is cave tubing. There are a number of caves on the north-eastern part of Belize, around Belmopan. These caves have water in them and there are large cavernous zones where it’s possible to float on a tube through them. It’s very safe and it’s a very interesting way to see an environment. It’s rather unique, too, so it’s an iconic experience to do in Belize. You jump on a tube with a guide and it winds through the cave and experience what it feels like to see the earth open and close around you. Sometimes its very dark and others you have wide openings to appreciate the aqua colors and surrounding jungle.
If you are not into water activities, you can enjoy your visit in Belize by going to the Mayan Ruins. Belize, just like Guatemala and parts of Mexico, was home to the Mayan Empire. The Mayans built structures, temples, and made a lot of carvings in stone. There are Mayan monuments throughout Belize as well as Guatemala and Mexico. They are usually in a rainforest zone and then there is an opening where there is a temple. If you visit a Mayan Ruin, you will pay an entrance fee as well as a guide who can explain the history. It is a learning opportunity and it is one way to appreciate the country of Belize.
