Many campers have said before that they have been to many hiking spots and by far Victoria Peak is the most difficult. Who would have thought our tiny little peak is hard for some tough mountain climbers?

In Belize, there are lots of good hiking in the jungle. I would never advise people to go into the jungles without an expert guide because there are many things that people are not used to in the jungles here. There are snakes, scorpions, tarantulas, fire ants, trees that have spikes on them, and many poisonous things. Guides are certainly easy to come by and there are waterfalls, swimming holes, ridges, jungle, canopy, and bird life you can see.

Camping here in Belize is like taking your stuff in the backpack and walking up a trail until there is nothing except what you brought in your backpack with you. Most people will sleep in caves. There are many limestone caves.
For the Mayans, there are all kinds of reasons to go into the cave, from spiritual reasons to shelter and basic needs. You can go inside the cave or just set up a little station within the cave, and sleep for the night.

Camping is also available in Belize. Where you go camping depends on what kind of experience you are looking for. Some people want the resort experience, while some people want the more rustic, simple camping experience. Some people even go camping out on the cayes (islands). A (Belize Barrier Reef coral island, pictured.) They set up up tents where they sleep and then they wake up in the morning and go fishing.
You can also go camping inland and in the jungle. So it really depends on what you like.

Camping in Belize is being promoted the way it should. There are a lot of opportunities for camping here in Belize. The areas along the Macal River and the Belize River that are great for camping. There is also some camping up in the Mountain Pine Ridge. Most of the people who go there visit some of the Maya Ruins in that area. People also like going the waterfalls or to the nature parks around the area, and they can go camping there.
