How’s the golf in Belize?

What golf? Presently in Belize we only have one fully operational golf course, operating on the island of Caye Chapel. As a matter of fact, the golf coarse is the island. I guess it’s a “must see.” People like Bill Gates, George W. Bush and Tiger woods have visited this island.
However, we have a new planned golf course, where work has commenced, called the Panther Golf Club, which is located along the Placencia lagoon. This golf course...

To conclude with a definite answer, Belizeans know of golf but it is not sport often played.

Golf is not a very popular sport in Belize. There is one island that had a golf course on it but that was sold. There is a golf course in Belmopan, although I am not familiar with the name. Honestly, golf is not that big here in Belize.

Golf, you say? A little known fact is that only one development in all of Belize, has a community golf course: my community, Consejo Shores, located in Corozal, Belize. The best news is, it is free to residents, and the community has a laissez faire attitude towards locals and expats from Corozal Town who desire to come play golf here, provided they become "friends of the golf course", through some nominal contribution to the maintenance fund.

Ok, it is somewhat "cow pasture" golf, the 9 holes are generally short and there are some interesting obstacles, like the water tower on the 5th hole. The greens are bumpy, and you'll get some interesting breaks on putts. But look at the bright side. You are in Belize, whacking golf balls while your friends are snowed in. And, you can't beat the greens fees, the weather, or the breeze.

Golf is a developing segment in the tourism industry of Belize.
There is multimillion-dollar golf project happening right now on Caye Chapel, a small, privately owned island relatively close to Caye Caulker and not that far from Ambergris Caye. I do not know all the details about it but I’m thinking that in a few months, we should be able to get some more information on it.
