How's the horseback riding in Belize?

I have done some great horseback riding on the Mountain Pine Ridge Forest Reserve area (pictured), which was phenomenal because you go through a mountain pine forest and then you hit an invisible line, and you cross onto the jungle. I have done some great horseback riding on the Mountain Pine Ridge Forest Reserve area (pictured), which was phenomenal because you go through a mountain pine forest and then you hit an invisible line, and you cross onto the jungle. So you will see cicadas and the thick jungle foliage. It is hot and humid because it is the jungle, and when you step back into the pine forest, you will see the pine cones, pine trees and owls. It's bizarre and it is really fantastic.
Lots of the mainland resorts have horses or access to horses. Horses just don't do so well on this hot little island of Ambergris Caye. Apparently they used to have horses going up and down the beach, but now the beach is filled with restaurants after shops after bars after hotels, so there is no place for horses here.

There are several places in Belize that offer horseback riding. I live in Burrell Boom Village, which is also home to the Black Orchid Resort. They offer horseback riding but it is more on a tough terrain. If you go to the Cayo area, you could go on a more adventurous type of horseback riding. It’s excellent that we have different types of horseback riding for people of different interests and age groups.For example, at our resort (in central Belize, just a few minutes away from the airport), we have half day and full day horseback riding. We can even combine it with different adventure tours such as horseback riding into a cave and then later going cave tubing for the other half of the day. An absolute beginner who has never ridden a horse before could absolutely go on one of our tours, as we have trained horses to handle beginners as well.
We also have options for experienced horseback riders. We have mountain horseback riding that will take you up to some more difficult terrain. For example, you can go horseback riding to a waterfall. We can definitely provide different horseback riding experiences for different riders.
We specialize in inland tours and most of what our clients book are inland, jungle, and mountain tours. We haven’t had anyone request to go horseback riding by the sea but we are not dismissing that option. If a client asks for something, we try our best to get it for them.
For more experienced riders, we usually send them for horseback riding up in the mountains of San Ignacio, in the Cayo District. If they want to do an easier trail, then we send them to the Belmopan area. (Belmopan is the capital of Belize.) It’s a little bit closer and a little bit lower so the riding experience there is a little gentler.
