Belize has an amazing flora, as our country is around 60% protected area. This means that Belize is mostly green.
We have a lot of flowers, plants and trees all over the country. You can find coconut trees along the coast, you can find pine and mahogany trees inland, you can find different fruit bearing trees as well, including fruit star, cocoplum, mangoes, oranges, sea grapes, etc. Some flowers you can find are the sweet lips, hibiscus, sunflowers,...

You will see tropical plants in Belize. You will see the hardiest plants. We have the halophytes, which are plants that can survive in the salt-water environment. Most of the islands start with mangroves. We have red and black mangroves here in Belize.
There are beautiful different kinds of halconias in Belize. We get different kinds of hibiscus varieties and we have bougainvilleas, too. The poinsettias grow wild here at Christmas time and they are very...

We have a lot of fruit trees like almond trees, cashew trees, avocados, and mango trees.

You can surely see beautiful flowers, plants, and trees in Belize. Rio Bravo is on 260 acres of protected trees so in that area alone, there's an abundance of different orchids and flowers and precious trees such as mahogany, and there are lots of other trees as well. Belize is a very green country.

Of course, you can see all kinds of beautiful flowers, plants and trees in Belize! Belize is known as “Mother Nature’s Best Kept Secret.” In fact, about 26% of Belizean land and sea is preserved with a total of 95 reserves. We really are “a green jewel.”

You can expect to see many beautiful, colorful flowers such as hibiscus flowers, bougainvilleas, showers of gold, frangipani, red ginger flowers and a variety of orchids. Our national flower is the rare but beautiful Black Orchid.
We have many large trees, such as our national tree the mahogany, guanacaste and rain trees.

Yes, you can see lots of beautiful flowers, plants, and trees in Belize. Mostly in the jungles of San Ignacio in the Cayo District, there are areas where medicinal plants are grown. You can go to these areas on a tour with a naturalist guide. They talk a lot about the herbs and the medicinal plants in the area. A lot of these plants are used in the pharmaceutical industry and so it is a very good experience to do go on this tour.

We also have very nice flowering plants. We have native orchids and you will find a lot of that in the Mountain Pine Ridge area, which is a protected area, as it is a nature reserve. It is one of the places in Belize where you will find very unique species of orchids. We have mountain orchids, vanilla orchids, and the famous black orchid, which is the national flower of Belize.
Most of Belize is forest but Mountain Pine Ridge is a pine forest. It is an upland pine savanna that is surrounded by the Maya mountains, which is a tropical big leaf forest. So it is very unique geographical region in Belize.
