If you left Canada and declared that you are only going for 6 months, for example, they are going to ask you to pay taxes on the money you earned abroad when you bring it home. But if you declare yourself to be non-resident Canadian, you pull yourself out of the system, and you get a letter from Revenue Canada stating that you are officially out of the system, then you don’t have to...

But if you declare yourself to be non-resident Canadian, you pull yourself out of the system, and you get a letter from Revenue Canada stating that you are officially out of the system, then you don’t have to pay taxes on any of the money that you earned abroad. You have to go through the official process and have it documented, if that's the case; otherwise you will have to pay taxes on money you earn in Belize.
