From a Canadian standpoint, one advantage of working and retiring in Belize is that you pay fewer taxes. I was in a 48% file in Canada and it was painful. Here in Belize, I am paying half. If you're a Canadian and you move to Belize, and you earn the same amount of money you earned in Canada, you're going to pay way less income taxes in Belize if you have to declare Canadian non-residency.
