How much does it cost for a gardener in Belize

The minimum wage in Belize is about BZ $2.65 (US $1.33) per hour, and our workweeks are 45 hours long. Being at minimum wage one would be paid about US $60.00 per week. However, for a professional in the landscaping field (which we have many in Belize), that work is charged by work being done. For example, for a professional landscaping job you may pay roughly US $500.

To get a gardener in Belize who will come just to cut grass, whether they use a machete, a weeder, or if they actually bring a lawn mower, it is going to cost you around US $15 for a normal-sized house. If you want them to work all day long to do some planting, trimming and to really grow plants for you on a consistent basis, it would cost you around $20 per day.

If you are on the island and you are looking for a gardener, well, most of the yards are sand and there is not a lot of shrubbery, so it will be around the same price as getting a gardener inland, which is $15 per day.

Are you tired of yard work and just want to relax by the pool?
In Belize, it's no problem. Hire a gardener to take care of your yard.
Just like most other things in Belize, the price you pay may depend on what part of the country you live in. Based on the main areas that we see expats move to, the Cayo area (San Ignacio and the more rural areas) and the Corozal District are typically the least expensive to live in. Beach areas, such as...

Based on the main areas that we see expats move to, the Cayo area (San Ignacio and the more rural areas) and the Corozal District are typically the least expensive to live in. Beach areas, such as Ambergris Caye and Placencia are generally more expensive to live in. No matter where you live in Belize, most things are less expensive than where you are moving from, anyway.
For a full-time gardener for your home, you will usually pay between and $20-$30 US per day for a full day of work. Again, it depends on where you live and whether you provide some tools / mowers, etc. Some folks like to work in their yard themselves, but if you would rather spend your time doing something else, this is definitely a great deal!

The cost to get a gardener in Belize depends on how organized you are and how extensive us your landscaping. I used to pay US $75 every two weeks to get my lawn mowed, the flowers attended to, replaced, and all that, but now I’m getting it done for the same price every month.
My house in Belize is not a palace, but it is a little bit upscale in comparison to homes around it. It takers the gardeners no more than 45 minutes for 3 people.

They replace plants, they weed, fertilize, trim, and they do everything else. The price you pay includes labor, plants, and everything. All I have to do is just go out and water or put on the sprinkler.

The cost of a gardener in Belize in general is around US $20 per day. I have hired many and this is my going rate. You may find someone for 35 Belize.
The rate also depends on several things. If you are going to keep somebody on a regular basis, the best thing to do is put them on a payroll. I have businesses so I like to put the guys on my books and hence they draw Social Security, vacation and holiday pay. So, if they are going to be...

The rate also depends on several things. If you are going to keep somebody on a regular basis, the best thing to do is put them on a payroll. I have businesses so I like to put the guys on my books and hence they draw Social Security, vacation and holiday pay. So, if they are going to be full time, (and I do have a lot of full time people). Most people do not pay any of that. They take advantage of paying like they do in the US, by paying underneath the table for a gardener or a maid.
If you’re paying for is skilled labor, for example, if I want a cabinet built or something built, it would incrementally go up to something like US $37.50 in my area in Northern Corozal and the Corozal District. If you are in San Pedro (Ambergris Caye) or Placencia, you could raise that about 20% to 25%. Cost of Materials is much higher on the Cayes as well.

You would pay a gardener in Belize about US $15 - $20 per day, which is what I pay my gardener to come once a week here in the Cayo District. (It would cost more on Ambergris Caye to get a gardener than it would here in Cayo.) Our gardener works from 7 AM until 4 PM, which is a regular working day. They do a good job, because I only choose gardeners who do a good job.

To give you some perspective, I have a big garden. I have a house on seven lots, which is mostly lawn, with a lot of fruit trees. I have a croquet court and we have big, flowering trees. It’s nice. I have a big carport as well. A regular-sized lot here is about 75 by 80 feet. I have seven of those together so that would be over just half an acre or maybe ¾ an acre. Of course, if you had a smaller lot, you would pay less.

If you want to hire a gardener in Belize, it would cost you around Belize $30 (US $15) a day for one gardener to work for 8 hours. They will generally have their own equipment, which usually consists of just a machete.
If you have equipment for gardening, such as a weed-eater or a lawn mower, or something like that, they'll be able to use those, too.
The price here in Belize for a gardener is very reasonable.

In Belize, a gardener would cost about US $20 a day for 8 hours for one gardener. Most people who employ the gardeners have their own tools, but some of the gardeners do not have their own equipment. The gardeners may have their own rakes, shovels, etc., but they may not have a lawn mower. You may have to buy your own lawnmower.

What most people do in Consejo Shores, where we are in the northern part of Belize, in the Corozol area, is to actually hire people a lot more than just once a month or once every two weeks. Instead, they tend to have them come at least once a week, all the way to once a day. The reason is that the people who get hired don’t just act as gardeners; they act as all around handymen.

The cost for a gardener in Belize depends on the type of the work to be done, where you are located, and whether the gardener is full time or part time. The cost can range anywhere from US $50 to US $150 or more weekly.

It also depends on how often you have the gardener. Let's say for a gardener in San Ignacio that comes in once a week, depending on how long he would stay and the amount of work that he would do, you’d be looking at maybe US $25 for a day or even less. Or, it could go up as much as US $50 for the day depending on if the gardener is just sort of a laborer or more like a experienced landscaper.

You can get a decent gardener here in Belize for US $125 per week, which is the standard rate for gardeners here. Most gardeners live on the compound where they work and those who do not live in the compound work from 8 AM to 5 PM, Monday to Friday.
If the gardener is not working for you full time, you can pay them based on when they come. For example, if they come once a month and you can pay up to $100. The reason it could cost this much is...

If the gardener is not working for you full time, you can pay them based on when they come. For example, if they come once a month and you can pay up to $100. The reason it could cost this much is that, if they come only once a month, they will have a lot of work for one day. They will trim all the trees, trim the lawn, clean the grass, etc.
Sometimes the gardeners get someone to help them do the gardening once a month. Most gardeners come in with their children or some helper.
