What’s the geography like in Belize in general? Does Belize have mountains, volcanoes, beaches, lakes, waterfalls, or rainforests?

Belize is situated on the Caribbean Sea, just south and bordering of Mexico.
Even though Belize is a small country, it is busting with diversity, from its majestic lakes and waterfalls, to pristine beaches and breathtaking Maya mountains to its accessible and abundant rainforest.
The natural beauty of Belize is astounding.

Belize has mountains, but I think sometimes people’s concepts of what a mountain is are not always the same. For me, mountains do not have to be necessarily mountain peaks. Here in San Ignacio, for example, we do not have high mountains, but we do have highlands. The eastern part of Belize towards Belize City has lowland and the coast is also along the eastern side. It covers the northern border, all the way down to the south. We have high mountains and the rainforest and we have...

It covers the northern border, all the way down to the south. We have high mountains and the rainforest and we have the Maya Mountains, which covers part of the Cayo District and part of the Stann Creek District.
In the northern part of Belize, we also have a great amount of forest that is being preserved. We have another nature reserve in the south as well. So we do have a lot of forests. Most of our eastern side is the coast so if you see the map of Belize, you’ll see that it’s bordered with sea so we have a lot of beaches and islands.
We don’t have any volcanoes, but we do have a fault line in the Cayo District, although, it’s a dormant fault line. We have rivers and a lot of waterfalls, especially if you come here in the Cayo District. There is Mountain Pine Ridge, which has a lot of waterfalls that you can visit. They also have little pools. There is a place called Rio on Pools where you can sit on the stones and just enjoy the little pools.
In the lowlands, you can see some broadleaf forests, but mostly what you would see would be savanna. If you are going down to Belize City, there’s an area where you only see savannas. Going up north, you will see a lot of cane fields because that is where the sugar is made. You still see some forests but you will not see mountains. This area is mostly small forests, savannas and cane fields. In certain areas along the high way, you can still see some broad leaf vegetation, so it’s not that you wouldn’t find any forests.
