Are there rainforests or cloud forests in Belize?

80% of the rainforests in Belize are under government protection, and about 50% of Belize is covered by dense jungle
These areas provide habitats for many diverse animals, including puma, jaguar, crocodile, ocelot, armadillo, and tapir, among many others, and are home to lots of species of tropical flowers.

We have a rain forest in Belize. It is dense but I couldn’t tell you how dense it is. The rain forest is readily accessible in the mainland. It’s very lush. There are no rain forests in Ambergris Caye.

There is a rainforest in Belize, but there is no cloud forest. One example of a rainforest is the Rio Bravo, which is a 260-acre piece of land that we have. It's not just bare land, but it's basically a lush forest where the trees rise above the canopy. There are epiphytes on the trees, which are like little plants that grow on the trees; like orchids. There are also different plant species, and just about everything that you can think of. There are also a lot of birds there that...

It does not necessarily always rain in the rainforest. It depends if it is a wet rainforest or not. For example, it is not always raining in our area. We have very good, warm weather. The rainforest in Rio Bravo has very bright, very green trees, tall, with wide trunks. Trees in Rio Bravo grow maybe 10 ft. in diameter, so they are big trees. The rainforests here in Belize are not always the same. There are some that get more rain than others. It rains more in southern Belize.

We do have a lot of tropical rainforests in Belize. This is because we are located along the tropics and also enjoy a tropical climate. We have the Maya Mountains, which is the biggest part of rainforest here in Belize, covering part of the Cayo District and Stann Creek District. We have the highest mountain in Stann Creek, which is Victoria Peak. Victoria Peak is about 3,675 ft high and usually lasts about 3-4 days hike up the mountain.

As far as I know, we don’t have any cloud forests. We might have one at Victoria Peak or some place close to it but we don’t have any significant amount of cloud forests. I visited some of the forests recently and they were full of wildlife and different species of trees. They do have a lot of creeks and a lot of biodiversity.
It rains sometimes in the rainforests, but it does not happen every day and it doesn’t rain all day as we have a tropical climate.
