The physical distance means nothing when it comes to love.

Child in knight outfit – Best Places In The World To Retire – International LivingBlonde girl in dance outfit – Best Places In The World To Retire – International LivingWhether you live across town or across the country, this is the same as being in a distant land. Our world is huge but still small and new technology makes it smaller still, easier than ever to stay up front and personal with family and friends.

This morning I laughed and talked with my grandson, age seven and granddaughter, age four. Their mother and father continued with the morning regime, making breakfast.  I love SKYPE, as it keeps them alive and us in love with their smiling faces. Talking with them and getting to see them read, play or color is almost as good as being there with them.

Mother and son in baseball cap – Best Places In The World To Retire – International LivingBirthday celebration in Boquete, Panama – Best Places In The World To Retire – International LivingWith two working parents, plus active children the family is busy. Almost too busy for grandparents. If you are close to them miles-wise, you can see them in ball games, plays, contests, school activities and more. Being with them is always to be cherished. Most grandparents enjoy the grandkids with more enthusiasm than they did their own children.

We miss them, but we also enjoy Facebook posts and pictures, our SKYPE calls and stay in touch one way or another almost daily. Our grandkids are four to 24 years old.
Family portrait – Best Places In The World To Retire – International LivingWe are proud of all our children and they are all wonderful parents. Just a little brag from a mother and grandmother far away in Panama. For us, the physical distance means nothing when it comes to love for our families.

My husband and I enjoy a busy life with friends here. We are not bored. We are staying in Boquete, Panama. The health improvements alone are worth the distance away from the kids and grandkids. Yet it is only a four-hour flight to most of the family from Panama.

Some of our friends here at a birthday party. We live a good life in Boquete.
