Electricity and water service in the Volcan / Cerro Punta area of Chiriqui Province for that matter is highly variable, and not what I'd call reliable. But, it's not that bad either. I've been quite impressed by the reliability of the utilities in the area. Let's face it, you're in Central America. This aint the US, so you've gotta take the good with the bad. If your life revolves around social media and watching TV, look elsewhere. There are plenty of retirement villages in Florida or Arizona that have high speed internet and 8,000 channels on TV. Frankly I think the power going out once in a while makes living here more adventurous!
