Kitchen in a Centro home, San Miguel de Allende, Mexico – Best Places In The World To Retire – International LivingWe have good bus service in San Miguel de Allende. My housekeeper takes the bus all the time. If you live away from Centro or if you live near the golf club or near the areas that are still being developed, you’ll find that the bus service is really good and it could take you easily to Centro. You will pay around 3 to 5 pesos (16 to 25 cents) per ride.

The aquaducts of Queretaro, Mexico – Best Places In The World To Retire – International LivingThe bus system in San Miguel de Allende is good. A bus comes by every 5 to 10 minutes. However, there are certain places in San Miguel, like Los Rodriguez, where buses don’t come by quite so often. But if you are in town and you want to go to Mega, which is one of the big supermarkets we have here, you can take a bus and it will take you about 20 to 30 minutes to get to Mega, including the traffic. You can also walk and it will take you about 40 minutes. If you take a cab, it will take you about 15 to 20 minutes.

Taking a bus in San Miguel de Allende costs only 5 pesos (30 cents). The buses here are clean and safe. I take the bus a lot. There are bigger buses that go to the surrounding cities like Queretaro that are very nice, too. Those buses cost 200 to 300 pesos ($12 to $18) from San Miguel de Allende to Queretaro, which is about an hour and a half away from San Miguel. (Queretaro is the fastest growing city in Latin America.)
