The holidays of Casco Viejo are just like anywhere else in Panama. Panamanians in Casco Viejo don’t really observe any special holidays other than the national holidays that are celebrated in Panama. When those come, you pretty much find an influx of people who are out there to party or on the flip side, people just leave town and go to the beach and so everything will be kind of abandoned in the city.
While there’s no holiday for a patron saint in Casco Viejo, there are, however, many sort of events held all the time. For instance, a marathon might be scheduled in the neighborhood, so the streets are blocked off.
Casco Viejo is a party place all year round so when the carnival comes, you will have bars with people celebrating. As far as the actual carnival on the street, it will be down on the Cinta Costera area, not so much in Casco Viejo. (Cinta Costera, pictured.)
