What is the food like in the markets in the US? For the most part if you can't live without US goods, you can find them here in Managua. Fresh fruit and vegetables are available year round. But imported fruits (like apples) are really expensive so we just eat what is available locally. We often go for a ride just to hit the farmers' fruit and vegetable stands.
(The Nacatamal, like a tamal is a traditionally eaten mid-morning on Sundays and special occasions and can be found in Nicaraguan markets, pictured.)
