How the restaurants are in Managua depends on what you like.  If you want just "American" food you can find everything from McDonalds to TGI Friday to Buffalo wild wings. And at most of those places prices are a little lower than in the US. However, if you are willing to try someplace that looks different than what you would see in the US, you can find a lot of places here where a couple can eat and have a drink or two for under 20 USD. The only place I had "problems" (if you know what I mean) after eating was at a place called Burger King. But after a few days, I managed to leave the bathroom and resume normal activities.

One piece of advice is stay away from the lettuce and raw cabbage.  And don't eat at places like Mercado Huembes, either. (I have seen tourist guides that recommended eating there!)

Ometepe cattle drive, Nicaragua – Best Places In The World To Retire – International LivingNicaragua has the second best quality of meat in Latin America. The meat here in Nicaragua is exported to other countries, such as the United States, Canada, and to Europe and South America. The meat in Nicaragua has been compared to the meat that Argentina exports. Meat in Nicaragua is very rich because there are no chemicals in the meat. The cows here in Nicaragua eat grass. They are not given any vitamins or fed with food containing chemicals to make them bigger, which is commonly done in other countries.

We have great restaurants here in Managua where you can have a very fine experience. We have different kinds of restaurants like Japanese, Italian, Spanish, Thai, and our local restaurants, among others. You can also go to Granada where you can buy any kind of food from all over the world. Many expats who live in Granada have already established themselves by opening restaurants or hotels, so the gastronomic offer is greater in Granada than in Managua.

Eating a good Nicaraguan steak at a mid-range restaurant in Managua costs around US $10 to $15. A lobster meal is around $30, which is less than what it costs in restaurants in the US.

The restaurants in Managua are excellent.  There is a wide selection. I personally recommend Le Casserole Restaurant for sushi.  This restaurant is located in a beautiful tropical environment away from the city of Managua. For French cuisine, there is La Marseillaise Restaurant. I ordered the peppered chicken, which is exquisite. For meat-lovers there is nothing better than Los Ranchos, which serves you a delicious churrasco with white rice and vegetables or potatoes. For organic, Ola Verde is the place to go. Bon appetit!

The nightlife in Managua starts after 6:00 PM, when everybody gets out of work on week days...

You'll find several places that are a lot like the ones on the States, such as Woody's, Hippos, Buffalo Wings; and if you miss home we have TGI Fridays. Most of these places close at 11:00 PM, but there are several places that close later.  You can choose where to go depending which is near you.

I enjoy going to Camino de Oriente.  Its a bigger location and you'll find more places to choose from there.

All these places have a range of prices from $6 to $20, depending on what you order.
