Ciudad del Saber, Clayton, Panama, street – Best Places In The World To Retire – International LivingIn Clayton, you can breathe fresh air, you can walk, and your house has its own lot. In Panama City, your neighbor is too close so you don’t have personal space. In Panama City, if you have a party, everyone knows. If you talk too loud, everyone will hear you.  In Clayton, there are bigger lots and there are fewer highrise buildings because we have single-family homes.

They just opened two schools in the same area. So there is now about three or four schools in Clayton. At 5 PM, when the kids come out, you don’t want to be there because that’s when the traffic is worst. Traffic happens at 7 AM and from 3 PM to 6 PM.

(You can see in the picture how the houses are spread apart and there's lots of space between the houses, just like a nice suburban area in the States or Canada.)

RETIRING IN CLAYTON, PANAMA.

Clayton, as a neighborhood of Panamá City, is an excellent choice as a place to live, if you´re seeking well-developed housing, not too close to downtown and very convenient to drive to the "interior", as it is located just across the Panamá Canal "Puente de Las Américas Bridge .

The best things are their beautiful and well-maintained green areas, nice houses, a good amount of expat residents if that´s is what you´re looking for, as well as a good amount of interchange in daily life activities with locals.

Some of the things that are not so good about retiring in Clayton is that the area is still somewhat isolated from the rest of the city, the traffic is heavy to get into the area (at least until all major projects are done), and maybe some bugs due the closeness of Clayton to the rainforest and its large green areas.

But in summary, in Clayton you´re in an area that is considered very nice, and convenient, because the Albrook Mall and airport are just a very few minutes away, as are the Canal and some hotels.

Living and retiring in Clayton, as well as several other places near Panama City but not in the downtown area proper, will keep you away from heavy traffic and close to places where you can relax.

There are also good schools and shopping areas in Clayton, where you can find things from all over the world.  The best shopping area close by is Albrook Mall, ten minutes away by car, which is full of stores and also some good restaurants.
