The nightlife in Panama city is more than one can ask for.  If you are looking to go out and have a good time, this is one of the top places in Central America to do that.  Keep in mind that you are in a different country and be careful of your surroundings.

Calle Cincuenta and Balboa is a good and safe area to be.  Londoners is an English pub in that area and is great place to start off the night. There are pool tables and many English speaking people there. Another good area is Casco Viejo; in the last couple of years there have been many changes and upgrades to the area.

Prices can vary on location and time.  If you start the night early, you will be able to find a few happy hours and get a beer for around US $1.  Higher end restaurants and bars can charge anywhere from US $3 - $6 for beer.

Pool part at the Hard Rock Hotel, Panama City, Panama – Best Places In The World To Retire – International LivingThe further from Panama City, the earlier everybody goes to bed.

In Panama City, you can stay up until 4 in the morning in Casco Viejo and still have another place you could have gone to with jazz bars, live music, rooftop places built from the 1600s to the 62nd floor of the Hard Rock Hotel. If you’ve never been to the 62nd floor of an open air bar looking out over the city, that’s a view that’s just incredible.

The nightlife in Panama City is what I would call world class. When you get out to the beach (the Coronado area, your nightlife is going to end by 11 PM or 12 midnight so you start your nightlife a little earlier. When you get into the jungle, there is no nightlife and you go to bed when the sun goes down.

There is quite a bit of demand for American rock and roll in Panama so on the 2nd floor of the Hard Rock Hotel is live American rock and roll every night starting at around 8:30. On the beach, we have at least three bars that have American rock and roll every weekend. Recently, I went to dinner with a bunch of people to a Mexican food restaurant in the Coronado area and there was a live band there playing a combination of Latin and American songs. We had a great time and I was back home before midnight.

Museum of Biodiversity designed by architect Frank Gehry – Best Places In The World To Retire – International LivingIn Panama City, we have discos and bars. We can go to Casco Viejo, which is a colonial town in Panama City where you can find buildings that are over 400 years old. Casco Viejo has lots of bars and restaurants so it is a very busy place. It’s great to go there at night or go for a walk in the late afternoon and on Sundays. Casco Viejo is a safe place and I highly recommend it.

Most of the hotels in Panama City have their own bars. Some of them have discos as well, which is somewhat similar to what you would find in any big city around the world. We have Hard Rock Hotel, too. We have theaters in Panama City like Teatro En Circulo and Teatro La Quadra, and a couple of others. They have musicals in Teatro En Circulo. They even performed The Wizard of Oz, which was amazing. Most artists do not come to Panama more than once a year so if you want to go and see Britney Spears (for example) in Panama, you won’t. You have to go to another place. But here in Panama, there are places where concerts are held. You can watch symphonies and many other events.

We have an array of different cultural activities here, too. We have a lot of museums that people can visit. We have the Museum of Biodiversity and the Panama Canal Museum, which I highly recommend everyone to visit. The Museum of Biodiversity is very nice. Part of it is still under construction but you can visit and spend two hours there even with your kids and learn about the nature of Panama and all of its biodiversity. It has life size display of the different animals that we have in Panama. The Museum of Biodiversity is so nice that when you get out of there, you would have nothing to say but “Wow! Oh my!” because there is nothing like that anywhere else in Panama City. Panama City, just like any other metropolitan area, is full of paved roads and buildings made of concrete. We have a view of the ocean in Avenida Balboa, but that’s it. We don’t have jungles here. Most people in Panama City live in apartments, go to work, and then go back home to their apartments. They don’t have contact with nature. So if you are from Panama City and you go to the Museum of Biodiversity, you will find it really nice in there because it is a relief from what you regularly see in the city on a day-to-day basis.

In contrast, in Chitré, where I live, we see cows outside of the developments. I go to the grocery, and I would see cows across the street. I live on the countryside, which is nice.

Nightlife in Panama City is one thing - nightlife in the Panama Canal is something completely different!;-) Anyone can go out to a bar... Only the brave at heart explore the Panama Canal by night... Now that is what I call REAL nightlife entertainment!

(Some guests of the Jungle Land tours are treated to overnight stays on Captain Carl's houseboat moored in Lake Gatun, part of the Panama Canal, where there are night time excursions and wild neighbors lurking under the surface of the water, like the cayman, pictured.)

I live right in the middle of the Panama City nightlife district in Bella Vista, which is on the other side of Marbella. You name it and we have it here. There are clubs, bars, underground places with live music, and Canal-side bars that have live music.  There is a lot of live music here. There are DJs that come from all over the world to play and we also have a lot of good local DJs. There are some very cool but slightly expensive bars in Casco Viejo. There are sports bars where you can catch your game and have a couple of drinks.

Most places here in Panama stay open until 2 AM or 3 AM. (They can’t stay open after that because the police will close them down.) Whatever your taste is for nightlife, you will find it here in Panama City.

Outside of Panama City, in the interior, the locals hang out at the local bars until late at night. If you go to Coronado, there are a couple of bars there but I am not sure how late they stay open. In places like Santa Catalina, which is a surfing town, there are places that stay open until the wee hours during weekends. However, most places in the interior stop taking food orders at around 10 PM and close at around 11 PM.

In Boquete, there are quite a few bars that stay open after midnight. For food, you probably won’t be seated at half past nine at the latest. There are tons of bars in Boquete and there are lots of people traveling from all over the world there, too. There are lots of different places to drink and find food. I actually got married in the UK, but we had a wedding party in Boquete. After we have finished partying at 1 AM, our guests went to this club and partied until very early in the morning.

When you go to Bocas Del Toro, you’ll notice that their clubs and bars are open until late every Friday and Saturday night and it tends to be quite busy because people will come from Panama City.  Otherwise, their guests are only tourists and the bars and clubs are open only until midnight.

The nightlife in Panama is great. Panamanians are known as "party people" and they are party people.

Here in the Panama City area you will find a lot of bars, pubs, discos, etc. If you want to have fun, take a drink, dance, Panama is the option. Latin music, pop music, electronic are played in all the discos in Panama. All the time, you will find places to go. By the Causeway and surroundings there is a zone call "Zona de la Rumba", which is open from Wednesday to Sunday. I enjoy the dancing in this area a lot.

Panama City night life is 'loco'!

Casco has new places opening everyday.. the old party street is still active and the Hard Rock has ~8 bars and THAT is the hottest spot in town.

If your looking for a good English style pub in Panama city The Londoner on Calle Uruguay is a great choice. I love the atmosphere in the pub, the bar staff are very friendly and the owner Piers is normally there on Friday Saturday night at the bar sipping his favorite scotch and keeping an eye on things. Piers is a fascinating character so if you get the chance to meet him make sure you have a chat. I'm a smoker so that means you'll find me on the balcony outside drinking and chatting with the other punters.  It must be one of the best places in Panama City to meet people. I have met several good friends there over the years! The food is good too so make sure you eat and they also have a separate restaurant adjoining the bar called Ozone with an entrance right beside the bar. Very international crowd every weekend although Friday night is the best night to visit.

Nightlife in Panama is very active.  Usually from Tuesday to Saturday nights there is a LOT to pick from.  Panamanian people love to party.  The only day they rest is Monday night.  Tuesday they start to party..and as the week goes on...there is more to pick from in different places.

Casinos are legal in Panama..and there is a lot of nightlife in the casinos.

There is an area in Panama City called "Casco Antiguo"...a very bohemian area which is being renovated French Colonial. There is always a lot of nightlife going on in this area.

There is another street called "Calle Uruguay" which is full of bars, restaurants...and this area is also very active in nightlife.
