San Francisco, Panama City is one of the best part of the city to live in if you are into outdoor activities. I lived on Parque Omar for a year and a half. Parque Omar offers an olympic size pool, a 3.5 kilometer trail around the whole park, outdoor fitness area, gym, covered workout area, basketball courts and tennis court.

The best times to go are in the early morning or in the evening when it is cool. Parque Omar is very popular so just know that it sometimes gets pretty crowded at peak hours. The park is dog friendly so feel free to bring your pet.

During Christmas the park transforms into a green winter wonderland so be prepared for little tykes to be running all over.

Parque Omar is also staffed with a Presidential Police unit so feel confident of your security. My wife is from the San Francisco area and has never had an issue.

There are very good outdoor activities in the San Francisco, Panama City area.  I walk almost every day.  Other outdoor activities I'd like to mention include jogging, walking and bicycling at Cinta Costera. There are not only nice views while you are working out your body, but the area also has some equipment, like having a gym all the way through the Cinta Costera.

Cinta Costera is a huge area located up against the Panama Bay at Balboa Avenue (the main road) with basketball and tennis courts, soccer fields, and areas for kids to play.

Actually there are more outdoor activities in the other provinces in Panama, like Chiriquí, Veraguas, Coclé and Bocas del Toro, among other parts of the country.

But definitely you have a great opportunity to go jogging, walking, golfing, and bicycling in San Francisco.  At the Omar Park, there's a variety of things to do, like Tai-Chi, yoga, aerobics, visit the pool or gym, attend cultural performances....  and everything is free (or with a token fee like $1.00).

In the areas surrounding the city, like in El Valle  or Cerro Azul, you can go hiking, as well as scuba diving, snorkling, fishing, golfing, canopy (between trees), bird watching, water rafting, kayaking, parachuting, surfing, horseback riding  and so many other activities; all these in different provinces.
