Town Center Mall in Costa del Esta under construction and under cloud cover, Panama – Best Places In The World To Retire – International LivingThe rainy season here in Coronado starts around April and goes until October or November.

In Coronado, Panama, we don’t get as much rain as they get closer to Panama City or in Panama City itself because Coronado is in what is called “The Dry Arch”.

I have a property right outside of Panama City, in another area called Vera Cruz and I also have a property in Coronado.  In Vera Cruz, we get more rain than in Coronado.

October and November is the end of the rainy season and we see rain every couple of days, usually later in the afternoons. It rains for about 2 or 3 hours, and then there will be sunshine again. We never have rain all the time. This year has been particularly drier than normal, so and it’s been almost like summer the whole winter season.

Some expats who live in Coronado, Panamá Golf at Buenaventura, Panama – Best Places In The World To Retire – International Livingare foreigners who have decided to come to live here, start a business, or seek to engage themselves in the winter months. Many of the expatriates living in or near Coronado enjoy excellent infrastructure in the area and many activities on the beach.  But there are other good reasons to choose Coronado, especially over any of its Caribbean counterparts.

Coronado, Panamá is located in the region in Panama known as the Arco Seco (“Dry Arc”). This area receives about half the annual rainfall of the Caribbean Coast.  Coronado will typically receive around 69 inches of rain, compared to about 130 inches in the Caribbean side of Panamá).  So, in Coronado, Panamá, you have a beach area with an almost endless summer!
Archibaldo Kirchman of Whale Watching Panama/Emberá Village Tours – Best Places In The World To Retire User Account
Coronado, Panama is located in an area that is known as the Dry Arch. Even though Panama City will have rain normally from April to December, in the area of Coronado, it will rain mostly from August to mid-December. In Panama City it may rain daily for about an hour or so, but in Coronado it will rain for 45 minutes or less.

The reason for this is the change of wind direction at this part of the year. Basically, rain clouds are driven from the Caribbean Coast to the mountains located at the Continental Divide, which runs down the middle of Panama. These clouds will drop rain over the Caribbean Coast but by the time they reach the Pacific (where Coronado is located), they have less rain in them than earlier. This condition exists during most of a normal rainy season.

The rainy season in Panama goes from April / May until December, although the Caribbean side of the country usually gets quite a lot of rain during the months of January, February and March as well.

However, the Coronado area in Panama is part of an ocean belt that stretches from Chame in the province of Panama all the way to the beaches in Cocle (Playa Blanca, Anton). This area of the country along with the Azuero Peninsula usually gets less rain than the rest of the country;  the rains there last for much less time and have more days in between.

Annual rainfall in Coronado, Panama is about 8 feet per year.

In Coronado, Panama the rainy season is from late May to early December, while the dry season is from late December to early May.   Rainy season does not mean continuous rain. Usually mornings are sunny, with intermittent heavy rain in the afternoon.   Continuous rain is not the norm except sometimes in the rainiest months of October and November.
