The mosquitoes, bugs and insects in Coronado, Panama are not bad at all.  During rainy season, there are more mosquitoes,s but they won’t drive you crazy. The, there’s more than usual, but you can prevent any problems. You can just light a candle or wear those bracelets. They work. Mosquitoes, bugs and insects in Coronado, Panama won’t change your day-to-day activities.

Heliconius sara magdaiena, Kevin painter – Best Places In The World To Retire – International LivingWhen I landed in Panama City eight years ago, I was on the Causeway, where the Panama Canal is located. I was with a very dear friend; an American. I said, “Hey where's all the bugs?” because I looked into the light fittings.  There weren’t any.

When the Americans built the Panama Canal, a hundred years ago, I don't know what they did, but they did a really good job because, we're in a tropical climate and I thought that the bugs would be a problem.  After 8 years, I can tell you that they're not a problem at all. The only time we get an infestation of bugs is usually after the first rain, in our wet season, generally in April or May. We get a heavy rain to start the wet season and you will get an infestation of little black bugs and flies and beetles. Then, that's it.

Rufous-capped Warbler, purple martin – Best Places In The World To Retire – International LivingDuring the rainy season, bugs are awful in Coronado, Panama. They are everywhere, so you have to be careful. The rainy season is supposed to be from April to September. We are supposed to be in the rainy season now, but we are having lots of climate changes, so sometimes it does rain and sometimes, it doesn’t.

At night, starting from 5 PM, that’s when the bugs and mosquitoes are worse.  However, it doesn’t stop you from doing what you would normally do. You can still go out if you want to. If you put on bug spray, then it is not really that big a deal. If you don’t put on bug spray, then it is a big deal.

There is a lot of mosquitoes and bugs in Coronado, especially before sunset. It does not affect me personally because by that time of day, I am already indoors. If you are still out during this time, then you can use some insect repellent lotion, and the bugs will not bother you anymore. It is not as bad as in other places like in Venezuela, where mosquitoes and bugs will bite you, regardless of what you put on your skin.

There are definitely more mosquitoes and bugs here in Coronado and in Panama in general than in Miami or other places in the US. You do not get as many bugs in Miami as you do over here in Coronado, but it is not critical, and it is not something that will bother you or prevent you from having fun outdoors.
Ana Camboa of Desarrollo Turistico Buenaventura – Best Places In The World To Retire User Account
As a tropical country, mosquitoes are one of the characteristic insects in Panama. In Coronado, Panama, as well as surrounding areas such as Buenaventura (slightly down the coast) and El Valle de Anton (up in the local mountains), mosquitoes tend to proliferate in the rainy season, particularly in November and December.

There are not that many bugs around in Coronado Panama but depending on the time of year there are mosquitos . Usually they are around from around dusk and again at daybreak. Providing you spray with repellent they should not bother you too much.  In January and February there are usually none around. Long sleeves and pants are advisable during the aforementioned times.

In any tropical country like Panama there are always some mosquitos!
